In 2010, Father Ken was the director of the Holy Childhood Society for the Diocese of Los Angeles. He was working with young students in the Los Angeles area when Haiti was struck with an earthquake which destroyed lives and infrastructure. Father Ken rallied the children of Los Angeles to contribute to the rebuilding of Institute Montfort in Port au Prince. The Institute is a residential (boarding) school for over 200 hearing and speech impaired young people. The school, dormitory and the convent of the Daughters of Wisdom (the teaching order at the Institute) were destroyed.
5 years and 10 trips later, Father Ken is still bringing hands-on aid to Institute Montfort. The Haitian government is still unstable and challenging. But Father Ken brings direct assistance with money for construction and cash to buy shoes, supplies, food, medicine and the multitude of other items needed by the students and nuns.
The next trip to Haiti is scheduled for November 22, 2015. Help Father Ken bring more supplies and finish the construction of the school and dormitories. Watch this page for live updates from Father Ken from Institute Montfort.
